Batman (NES)

After the release of Batman the movie Nintendo announced Batman the Game in issue number 8 of Nintendo Power. From the presentation this was suppose to be a game based on the movie but we were treated with an average side-scroller similar to Ninja Gaiden but playing as batman in a futuristic Gotham.
The only connection with the movie was the "Cinema-graphics a la Ninja Gaiden".In the original prototype (from which the images from Nintendo Power were taken) you don't even battle with the Joker as the final boss!I guess Nintendo sent back the proto to Sunsoft to add Joker in the final version. As a result some cutscenes were modified and the difficulty was a little bit lowered...and of course we had Joker in the game.
The gameplay and graphics are decent and the music is one of the best you will ever find in a Nes game.

I don't think this was a Batman game in the beginning but a modified project from Sunsoft which surely wouldn't sell so much if it didn't had the Batman logo on it.The Sega Genesis version of this game also made by Sunsoft has at least some connection with the movie and/or the Batman universe but despite all of this i like the Nes version better (i don't know why...maybe because of the music, 'cuz i am a sucker for ninja gaidenesque games?.. hell knows).

In conclusion:
Dark graphics, good controls, awesome music and maybe a ninja replaced by a batman sprite makes this title a must have for batman fans and side scroller fanatics (like myself). The game is easy to find and comes pretty cheap.
I give this 8 bones out of 10.
